The Gunners are looking for revenge when the Magpies come to town in the Arsenal vs Newcastle live stream.
Arsenal are the most inform team in the Premier League. The Gunners are on a five-game winning streak, having scored a remarkable 21 goals and conceded just two in that period. They may be in 3rd place but they’ve got their sights firmly on the Premier League trophy. This match also offers Arsenal a chance for revenge after a controversial defeat to Newcastle back in November. In the aftermath of that loss, manager Mikel Arteta went on an extraordinary rant labeling the match a disgrace, so expect a feisty encounter here.
Arsenal’s recent scoring record doesn’t make for pleasant reading for a Newcastle side that simply cannot stop leaking goals. The Magpies are undefeated in their last four (two wins, and two draws), but during those games have conceded nine goals, and if you include their defeats to Man City and Liverpool in early January, the tally rises to 16. At least Eddie Howe will be comforted by the potential return of striker Alexander Isak and former Arsenal player Joe Willock. Neither will sure up Newcastle’s leaky defense, but they both offer something in attack and the Magpies might have to outscore the Gunners to take anything from this match.
Another worrying omen for Newcastle is their truly horrendous record at the Emirates Stadium. You have to go back to November 2010 for their last three points at the ground. Although, the Magpies did grind out a respectable point at the stadium last season in another game that saw Arteta lose his cool by the end.

Wenderson Galeno came through for Porto with the final whistle about to blow. Now, Arsenal needs to rally to return to the Champions League quarterfinals for the first time since 2010.
Galeno scored deep into stoppage time to give Porto a 1-0 win in the first leg of the round of 16 on Wednesday. The English team will need a victory in the return leg in London on March 12 to make it back to the last eight of Europe’s elite club competition.
Galeno broke the deadlock with a right-footed shot into the far corner four minutes into added time. His strike from outside the area came in what was supposed to be the final minute of stoppage time at the Estadio do Dragao.
I think the credit for that goal goes to the whole team, for what they did in the 90 minutes, Galeno said. We played well, we defended well, we left all our energy on the pitch. We will try to replicate in London what we achieved here. We will try to stay solid and give our best, as we always do.
The Brazilian forward, who had hit the post in the first half, was named the man of the match.
When it’s 0-0, you look up at the clock and it’s 93 minutes gone, if you aren’t going to win the game then don’t lose it, Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice said. Maybe have the bit of savviness about us to stay in and get a draw in a tough stadium against a tough opponent. They caught us on the counter and he’s stuck one in the top corner which is really disappointing.
Porto was mostly in control and kept Arsenal from having any attempts on target. The English side was coming off five consecutive wins in which it scored 21 goals in total.
A lot to play for in the second leg, Rice said. We’re really positive as a group, we’ve had such a good start to 2024 that we’re not going to let this get us down.
We have to change our approach in the home leg and give it absolutely everything, he added. Even though we’re a goal down, it’s a nice goal to aim for when we can change it around in the home leg.
Porto was eliminated in the round of 16 last season. The Portuguese team is trying to reach the quarterfinals for the first time since 2021.
It was a good game, a Champions League game, Porto coach Sérgio Conceição said. Our opponents had more of the ball, but Porto were always more dangerous.
Arsenal, making its first Champions League appearance since 2016-17, failed to get past the round of 16 in seven consecutive tries from 2011-17. It has lost its last seven first-leg matches in the last 16.
A 1-0 defeat at Porto in the Champions League round of 16 first leg threatening to blow them off their path, Arsenal welcome Newcastle United to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday night with the pressure firmly on them. By the time they kick off, Mikel Arteta's side could well be four points behind Manchester City albeit with a game in hand on both them and Liverpool.
Picking up three points against Newcastle could be a struggle for the Gunners, who have failed to score in three of their last four meetings with Eddie Howe's men. Their previous encounter, a 1-0 win for the hosts at St. James' Park, was another tempestuous clash between these two, one settled in contentious fashion through Anthony Gordon's second-half strike. Another result like that would put any title bid in severe jeopardy.
Defeat in Portugal was a damaging but not cataclysmic blow for Arsenal, who are still favorites to reach the Champions League quarterfinals, but a second loss in a week would raise the prospect of a promising season going into a tailspin. With 72 hours between the games, Arteta may be inclined to rotate his side somewhat with Jorginho under consideration to start in midfield after an outstanding display at St. James' Park last season. Thomas Partey's return to fitness adds to options in the engine room, the Ghana international stayed back when the rest of the squad flew out in a bid to get fit for Saturday.
Still, Arsenal can be confident that their defense will hold firm, particularly against Newcastle, who have not scored a Premier League goal at the Emirates Stadium since Ayoze Perez found the net in December 2014. Across the last six games, the Gunners' defense have given up shots worth just 2.91 expected goals (xG), a third of which came from Galeno's remarkable double miss on Wednesday night.
When Gordon scrabbled the ball over the Arsenal line in early November, everything looked rosy for the Magpies. Victory had them firmly in the top four race, perhaps even outsiders to do better than just qualify for the Champions League, while qualification for the knockout stages seemed a probability. Injuries and a baffling loss of defensive form mean even getting into Europe next season looks to be a challenge for Howe's men.
In the 14 league matches since beating Arsenal, Newcastle have taken just 17 points while conceding 30 goals. Remarkably their defensive record could have been worse. The 33.5 xG they have allowed is the worst margin in the Premier League by a sizeable margin, more than four 'ahead' of Luton in 19th. Bukayo Saka et al will be licking their lips.
The Gunners have won their last five games in the league but their most recent outing ended up in a defeat at the hands of Porto in the Champions League. They will be confident of bouncing back from that result with a win over the Magpies. The visitors have only lost one out of their last seven games across all competitions and that defeat came against Manchester City. They will be hoping to come back from London with points.
In the midweek fixture, Arsenal welcomed back Fabio Vieira to the matchday squad after a three-month absence. However, Thomas Partey was not included for the first leg.
Partey and Gabriel Jesus, who is nursing a knee injury, are expected to return soon but this weekend may come too soon for them. Additionally, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jurrien Timber and Takehiro Tomiyasu are sidelined with injuries.
Newcastle faced another setback as Callum Wilson suffered an unusual pectoral injury, ruling him out for approximately 12 weeks. However, Alexander Isak is nearing a return from a groin injury and might reinforce the offensive lineup. Joe Willock, former Arsenal player, is also eyeing a comeback.
Fabian Schar has resumed training after a wrist injury sustained against Bournemouth. However, Sandro Tonali is suspended, while Nick Pope, Matt Targett, Joelinton, and Elliot Anderson remain sidelined.
